Alex Vasiev, PhD, Head of Biointerface at Springboard, a multidisciplinary engineer with extensive R&D experience in both academia and consultancy. His primary focus is on the intersection of engineering, physics and biological systems. Before joining Springboard, Dr Vasiev managed front-end design and development at Oval (now SMC). In the field of drug delivery, Dr Vasiev has developed a range of innovations, including smart hydrogel microcarriers, patch pumps, soft-mist inhalers and several high-viscosity autoinjectors. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Aeronautics and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Glasgow (UK).
