Abdul Basit, PhD, is Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University College London (UCL) School of Pharmacy. Professor Basit is a leading authority on oral drug delivery, digital health and innovative pharmaceutical technologies, including 3D printing. He is a world authority on translational research. He has founded two spin-out companies (FabRx and Intract Pharma) and has invented several drug products that have entered the clinic.
Professor Basit’s research sits at the interface between pharmaceutical science and gastro-enterology, forging links between basic science and clinical outcomes. He has published over 300 papers, book chapters, abstracts, and patents. He leads a large and multi-disciplinary research group, and the goal of his work is to further the understanding of GI physiology by fundamental research. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences, serves as a consultant to numerous pharmaceutical companies and is on the advisory boards of healthcare organisations, charitable bodies and scientific journals.
