Simon Rufer, PhD, is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CoFlo Medical. During his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA, US), he established the fundamental principles for stabilising core-annular flow that are at the core of CoFlo’s delivery devices.

His broader doctoral research spanned electrochemical separations, with an emphasis on translating fundamental transport phenomena into scalable systems. Drawing on prior engineering experience at SpaceX and NASA JPL, Dr Rufer applies a cross-disciplinary approach to invention and commercialisation. His work has resulted in more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and patents.
