Matthew Hancock, PhD, is a Principal at Veryst Engineering, a Boston (MA, US)-based engineering consulting firm, applying fluid mechanics to product design and performance for biopharma and medical device clients. His team’s expertise spans microfluidics, surface tension and wetting, multiphase flow, species transport and reactions, and complex fluids and rheology. For combination products, this covers autoinjector performance, stopper lubrication and motion, injection modelling, drug product drying, leakage, needle clogging, vial fogging and lyophilisation.

Dr Hancock earned his PhD in fluid mechanics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and previously worked at the Broad and Wyss Institutes and Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA, US). He has co-authored dozens of peer-reviewed articles, including in Nature Materials and PNAS.
