Michael Hageman, PhD, is the Valentino J Stella Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS, US) and directs the Biopharmaceutical Innovation & Optimization Center. He also leads the Physical Pharmacy and Drug Delivery Labs, focused on physicochemical characterisation, formulation strategies for parenteral and oral drugs, and enhancing the developability of proteins, peptides and small molecule therapeutics. Prior to this, he spent over 30 years in industry, including roles at Upjohn, Pharmacia, Pfizer and Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he served as Executive Director of Discovery Pharmaceutics. Dr Hageman holds a BS in Pharmacy, and an MS and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, all from the University of Kansas.
